The Mumbai Look

The Mumbai Look

Mumbai’s appeal is as universal as it’s multi-faceted. The artists in this show are a diverse group. While many aren’t Mumbai-based, or their paintings necessarily of the city itself, the spectrum that they offer is much akin to its spirit. It’s the idea of Mumbai: especially for those of us who don’t live there but do visit and are otherwise drawn to it.

NITIN UTGE This very well-priced collection echoes some of the city’s complexity and freewheeling nature, ranging as it does from the massive impassivity of SHARANU ALLOLI Sharanu Alloli’s profiles to Douglas John’s sandy panoramas or H.R.Das’s two-dimensional vibrancy.

The Mumbai Look is thus allusive: as SHEKHAR PAUL a show it constitutes the kind of work the city’s art-lovers have been responding enthusiastically to. We know you will, too.
